Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
-1 Peter 4:8
Robin and Sheena met in the MLC cafeteria near the beginning of Robin's sophomore and Sheena's freshman year. Robin had known
Sheena's brother Sean from classes they shared and thereby knew who she was. They never spoke until the day Robin was working
on the serving lines and Sheena came up for a third chicken sandwich that same night. In his typical style, he gave her grief
for it. The two became fast friends and despite some unexpected bumps, the friendship flourished as they came to care for
each other more.
The following year Robin had a sudden revelation that things should move to the next level, and hey why not? Due to excessive
cowardice on Robin's part, and in consideration of Sheena's fragile nature at the time, he asked her out over Instant Messenger.
She might have exploded or suffered a nervous breakdown if he had done it in person. After panicking and asking 4 or 5 of
her roommates what she should do, she decided to reply in the positive. As an extension of the friendship they had started
the relationship grew while at school. While the intervening summers were hard due to the distance between Green Bay, WI
and Phoenix, AZ, the two managed.
Following Robin's graduation in 2004 from MLC he made a trip that summer to the De Frain family home in Phoenix in order
to ask permission to marry Sheena. On Sunday June 27th, 2004, after feeling like he was going to barf all day, and exactly
one hour before Sheena was to get home from work, Robin finally worked up the courage to speak to her parents. Thankfully
they hadn't come to hate him over the last few days and they consented to allow their daughter to be married. The two became
engaged then on that day and began wedding plans before Robin flew home for the rest of summer.
Wedding plans were finalized during Robin's next visit to Arizona the following Christmas holiday and after another dreary
long stretch apart, the day of the wedding finally came on June 15th, 2005. After spending a few nights at the Arizona Biltmore
Resort, they began their long trek together in a moving truck to return to Wisconsin where they now spend their days as Robin
attends school.
